America's Greatest Unknown Band

The Good Rats are now officially recognized, by Rolling Stone as "America's Greatest Unknown Band"!

In 1974, the band released their second and best-selling album "Tasty" on Warner Brother Records. The "Tasty" lineup had guitarist John “The Cat” Gatto, bass player Lenny Kotke and drummer Joe Franco joining the Peppy & Mickey Marchello.

Between 1976 and 1980, The Good Rats released a series of albums, including "Ratcity in Blue", "From Rats to Riches", "Birth Comes to Us All", and "Live At Last", all of which were well received by the band’s fan base, and received some airplay on FM radio, but failed to put the band on the national map. In 1981, Gatto and Kotke left the band, and were replaced by future Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick and bass player Schuyler Deale, (who later played with Billy Joel and Michael Bolton), for the album Great American Music. Shortly thereafter, the band broke up.

In 2008, the original "Tasty" line-up played two sold out reunion shows at B.B. Kings in New York.

"Ratcity In Blue" a mostly instrumental tour-de-force, is a prime example of just how tight a band The Good Rats are and how good their chops still are today. They will reconvene again this coming April for two more reunion shows at B.B. Kings.
